Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago said his administration will continue to recognise the advisory role of elder statesmen in the state.
He disclosed this after he met separately with two former Nigerian heads of states, Generals Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, respectively at their Hilltop residences in Minna.
The meeting, which was in continuation of the governor’s consultation with leaders in the state, was held behind closed doors.
The governor, who spoke with journalists after the meetings, said he will continue to tap from their wealth of experience for the growth and development of the state.
He said “We have come to greet our fathers and to thank them for their support and also seek for their pieces of advice with a view to bringing about positive change in Niger State
“And as usual we are here to derive inspiration from them, they have continued to support us,” he said.
Bago was in company of his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba; secretary to the state government, Abubakar Usman; chief of staff, Abdullahi Usaman Gbatamangi and other key government officials as well as APC stalwarts in the state.
