Senator Emmanuel Memga Udende, representing Benue North East Senatorial district, and the House of Representatives member representing Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo Federal Constituency, Prince Solomon Wombo, have expressed condemnation and offered condolences to the people of Ukum following the tragic killing of their 24 constituents by unidentified gunmen.

During their visit to the affected areas in Akpuuna, Mbazun, Ukum local government area, Senator Udende appealed to the Mbagyeren community, which was directly targeted, not to retaliate and escalate the already dire security situation. He emphasized that seeking revenge should be left to God.

Accompanied by a member of the state assembly, Engr. Ezra Nyiyongo, Senator Udende unequivocally condemned the actions of the perpetrators, questioning why they would target unarmed constituents. In a statement issued by Senator Udende’s special adviser on media and publicity, Comrade Jerry Iorngaem, it was mentioned that Udende called for dialogue, stating, “the government of the day is ready to listen to everyone with grievances.”

He assured his continued support for any initiatives aimed at improving the conditions in Ukum, Sankera, Zone A, and Benue as a whole. He also emphasized that he cannot endorse any form of violence.

Similarly, a member of the House of Representatives, Prince Solomon Wombo expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident, denouncing the attack as primitive, barbaric, and inhumane. He questioned why the Sankera federal constituency consistently makes headlines for negative reasons.
