We’re Yet To Receive Ministerial List – Senate

The Senate yesterday denied being in possession of the ministerial list from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It notes that while it is waiting in the wings to do justice to any communication sent to it by the president, no one has violated the law when it comes to the issue of appointment of ministers.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP Friday last night, spokesman of the Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, said they were yet to receive the ministerial list.

The Red Chamber was responding to reports by some media platforms (LEADERSHIP not included) that President Tinubu has sent the names of his ministers to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

But Adaramodu punctured the said reports, urging Nigerians to be patient, adding that President Tinubu will do the right thing for the country.

He said, “Why are we in a hurry. The president is a good headhunter. Moreover, he is within the time limit and he will give Nigerians the best.

“During our plenary today (Thursday), the Senate president didn’t inform Senators that he has the list or the list has been sent to him.

“The president is within time. We should not be in a hurry. We are sure he will do the right thing because he is a good headhunter”.

Corroborating the stance of the Senate spokesman after plenary, the Senator representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly, Victor Umeh, also said they have neither seen the ministerial list nor heard that it has been sent to them.

According to Umeh, all the deliberations at the Senate plenary centered on combating fake news as well as the growth and development of the country and not ministerial list.

“We are yet to receive the ministerial list,” Umeh said, adding that he was embarrassed when he saw some reputable platforms reporting that the Senate was in session to deliberate on the ministerial list.

“Our discussions centered on the issues of fake news and how to move the country forward. So, while we were at the closed session, I saw some platforms reporting that we were discussing the ministerial list which is not true. We have not received the ministerial list and no Senator has seen it,” Umeh added.
