The state commissioner for Education, Prof Paul Nwobasi has vowed to punish all head teachers, class teachers and examination invigilators who aided examination malpractices during the just concluded 2023 First School Leaving Certificate Examination in the state.

The commissioner who condemned the act in its entirety maintained that the state government has zero tolerance for examination malpractices from the lowest to the uppermost examinations in the state.

Prof Nwobasi made the disclosure in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, in an interaction with journalists on the successes recorded during the examination in the state.

He noted that in many schools visited, “series of examination misconducts aided by head teachers, teachers as well as other FSLC 2023 invigilators were discovered.

“The misconducts observed included writing answers on the board, pupils writing from textbooks, notebooks and oral answering of questions to candidates writing the exams, among other examination offences.

The commissioner lamented the deterioration in Education in the state and emphasized the need to organise orientation lessons for teachers in the state’s school system.

“The state government frowns at any kind of examination malpractices in the schools. We want to warn that any other invigilator caught in any subsequent exams getting involved in exams misconduct would face severe punishment.

“All the affected teachers and head teachers in the examination misconduct are to report to my office for further discussions and possible punishments,” he stated
