The Progressive Students Movement (PSM) has issued a call to the Nigerian police and relevant security agencies to investigate and arrest music promoter Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, and musician Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, along with others, for questioning regarding the untimely passing of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

Comrade Okereafor Bestman, the President of the PSM, made this urgent request in a statement released in Abuja. The PSM Nigeria chapter expressed deep concern over the unfortunate death of fast-rising music talent Aloba Promise Oladimeji on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that have raised suspicion.

The statement highlights that information, along with videos and pictorial evidence circulating on social media, suggest that the late musician had allegedly experienced a series of mistreatment, harassment, intimidation, victimization, and assault allegedly orchestrated by Sam Larry and his associates. This situation reportedly stemmed from a conflict between Mohbad and his former music label boss, Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley).

Moreover, the statement discloses that on June 25, 2023, Mohbad was reportedly attacked during a music video shoot alongside his colleague Zlatan. In response, a petition was filed on June 27, 2023, against Sam Larry and his group, which was submitted to the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Force CID Annex Alagbon, and officially acknowledged with a stamp and signature.

The PSM is demanding answers to critical questions surrounding the petition: whether anyone was invited or arrested for questioning, and what actions were taken. They assert that if the petition had been addressed at the time, it might have potentially saved the late promising artist from an untimely demise.

In light of these concerns, the PSM has given the Nigerian Police a 72-hour ultimatum to provide an explanation regarding the fate of the petition filed by the late Mohbad. Failing to do so may result in a peaceful protest by Nigerian students and youths at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The PSM appeals to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene in this matter and ensure that justice is served for the late promising star.

Meanwhile, the Lagos Annex of the Force Criminal Investigation Department has disclosed that it previously invited music promoter Samson Balogun, aka Sam Larry, and others in response to the petition submitted by the late singer, Mohbad, on June 27. This petition raised allegations of assault and other issues.
