An estate development firm, Livebridge Properties and Investment Ltd, has provided medical outreach and feeding for over 1,000 displaced persons at the New Kuchingoro IDPs Camp in Kaura District of Abuja.

Also, the company donated writing and reading materials to about 280 pupils in the IDPs camp.

According to the company, the donation and the medical outreach, which have been a yearly event to the camp, was part of its corporate social responsibility and to mark the birthday anniversary of its MD/CEO, Mr Obinna Nwaneri.

Speaking to journalists at the IDPs camp, Nwaneri said they asked the displaced persons of their challenges and their immediate needs before providing the aids.

“We realised they are facing medical challenges while their children in school don’t have enough writing materials.
So, we have fed about 1000 people and provided medical services, including provision of drugs.

“We gave the materials to the school. Most of these people don’t have what it takes to meet their basic medical needs because they live in shanties and in thatched houses. So, they are prone to medical issues.

“For us as an organization, beyond our corporate social responsibility, we think we have to reach out to the displaced persons.

“Some of the items distributed in the school include exercise books, crayons, pencils, colouring materials, exercise books, and textbooks.

“You know that schools have just resumed and a lot of the parents don’t have enough to send their children to school. Even the teachers are volunteers.

“Education is one key thing that everyone should not underestimate. These kids are the leaders of tomorrow and we can’t leave them to their fate because no one will sleep tomorrow if they are not well catered for today.

“We brought learning materials to aid their learning. Today, as a company, we feed 1000 displaced persons today. For the school, the school managers said they have 280 pupils and that informed the number of materials we brought and each one of them got three of the items each. Over 1000 people also benefited from the medical outreach and food.

“We owe it a duty to our country as individuals and as organisations. The only way we can contribute to a safe country is to care for the displaced persons because most of the people have been displaced from Borno to Nasarawa and many other places.
We are calling on the government to ensure that anywhere there is an IDP Camp, let there be a school,” Nwaneri said.

The head teacher of the new Kuchingoro IDP camp school, Luka Yaduma, said the coming of Livebridge was a saving grace as most of the students who just resumed didn’t have writing materials.

He called on other Nigerians and the government to help, adding that all the teachers in the school were volunteers.

One of the pupils, who benefited from the books, Faith Amos, thanked the Livebridge company and their CEO for remembering them.

Also, Yakubu Philip, a student, prayed to God to continue to bless and protect the CEO of the Livebridge company.

One of the beneficiaries of the medical outreach, Hannatu Katghaya, said she got drugs to take care of ulcer and others.

Hannatu thanked Livebridge and its CEO for the gesture and prayed to God to continue to protect and guide him.
