Odunolu ruling house of Oluronbi Compound, Ifon Osun in Orolu local government area of Osun state has charged Osun State government to respect court process and allow kingmakers to perform their statutory roles in the selection of

of a new Olufon to fill the vacant stool of Olufon of Ifon Orolu Kingdom.

A statement issued by the Directorate of Media, Research and Documentation of Odunolu ruling house and jointly signed by Prince Ahmed Adeyeye Olayode, Prince Wasiu Siyanbola and Prince Sulaiman Oyedotun and made available to LEADERSHIP in Osogbo faulted a letter purportedly written to Olaojo family, calling for nominations to the vacant stool.

They appealed to the state government and all stakeholders on Olufon stool to ignore the purported letter written to a “non existing Laojo ruling house and the use of a court dismissed 1988 Olufon chieftaincy declaration made by Jide Akinlaja Akinyooye and his co-travellers, a self acclaimed leader of concerned princes of Orolu kingdom”.

“We believe in the government of His excellency Ademola Adeleke that he cannot go against the rule of law since that was the instrument that gave him his mandate after Supreme Court judgement and he will not allow himself to be used to set Ifon Osun on fire.

“It would be recalled that the 1988 Olufon chieftaincy declaration which was made during the period of interregnum was set aside by his lordship, Hon justice Olowoofoyeku of Osun State high court Osogbo in suit no Hos/127/88 between Bello Akintola Olagunju and 8 others and the government of Osun and 11 others, wherein his lordship declared that the 1988 chieftaincy declaration was improperly made.

“Not minding the dismissal of other reliefs sought by the plaintiffs, the court also declared that the 1979 amended Olufon chieftaincy declaration which recognises five independent ruling houses is the susbisting instrument guiding the appointment of Olufon”.

The royal family then called on the state government to borrow a leaf from the administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola who stood its ground against all odds to respect the court decisions and used the 1979 chieftaincy declaration to appoint the immediate past Olufon, Oba Almaroof Magbagbeola from Olumoyero ruling house.

The family also called on the leadership of IPU to be wary of antics of its former national publicity secretary, on his acclaimed sensitisation drive on Obaship matters which is a calculated attempt to mislead, distort the rich Orolu history and create unnecessary confusion.

“We believe in this current administration that they can not abandon the ongoing court process on HOS/104/2020 & HOS/111/2021 respectively.

“We join a genuine call to expedite actions on the fillng of the Olufon vacant stool, and equally appeal to the state government to respect the ongoing court process and allow the kingmakers to perform their traditional duties without any interference,” the ruling house said .
