The director of public relations and information, Air Cdre Edward Gabkwet, said NAF struck the terrorists’ hideouts at Tumbun Fulani and Tumbun Shitu between September 27 and September 30, 2023, when their activities in the locations were confirmed to have constituted a threat to military formations and law-abiding Nigerians residing in the affected areas.

At Tumbun Fulani, he said the terrorists were observed loading jerricans in two gun trucks concealed under shrubs.

Subsequently, NAF aircraft were sent to interdict the location, believed to be a major logistics base.

He said the “Battle Damage Assessment” after the strike revealed that several terrorists were neutralised and the gun trucks destroyed.

The director said similar strikes were also undertaken at Tumbun Shitu after structures believed to be terrorists’ hideout were observed tucked under thick foliage.

He added that three gun trucks with terrorists were sighted moving into the location.

Hence, the order to strike the location, adding that aftermath of the air strike revealed several terrorists were neutralised and the trucks destroyed.

He restated the determination of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to significantly limit the activities of terrorists in the Northeast and other parts of Nigeria.

He said the current operational gains by the AFN are indicative of improved synergy and cooperation by all security agencies as well as the unwavering support of all Nigerians.
