NCFRMI Donates Agric Inputs, Others To IDPs

National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has donated agricultural inputs, educational supplies, and food care packs to internally displaced persons in the nation’s capital.

The federal commissioner for NCFRMI, Aliyu Ahmed, while addressing the displaced persons at Durumi, Wassa, and Karshi internally displaced persons camps, yesterday in Abuja said the initiatives aim to empower the displaced population, many of whom are skilled farmers, to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.

Ahmed said as Nigeria celebrated its 63rd Independence Day, the gesture reiterated the commission’s dedication to addressing the pressing needs of IDPs. He said no one, regardless of age or vulnerability, should be left without vital support.

Ahmed echoed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and stressed the importance of assisting IDPs, as neglecting them can have profound social and economic consequences for both the displaced and their host communities.

He said the efforts also align with the Commission’s sustainable solutions strategy

Furthermore, he said the Commission is equally committed to providing educational supplies to ensure that IDP children and adolescents have access to learning materials, facilitating their educational growth and development.

Additionally, he said the food care packs were distributed to alleviate immediate hunger and provide much-needed sustenance to those in need.

Ahmed expressed gratitude to the President of Nigeria for his unwavering commitment and support for Persons of Concern in Nigeria.

On his part, the chairman of Wassa IDP Camp, Geoffrey Bitrus, lauded the efforts of the commission. He stressed that the displaced persons are more interested in returning to their ancestral homes. Bitrus lamented the high rate of out-of-school children and the lack of drinkable water in the camp.
