Christian Leaders Laud Tinubu For Balancing Appointments

A group of Christian leaders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have applauded President Bola Tinubu for balancing political appointments along religious lines in the country.

The leader of the group, Archbishop Leonard Kawas, made this known yesterday at the inauguration of a committee ahead of the National Solemn Assembly (NASA), which they declared as a day of praise worship, and thanksgiving for Nigeria.

Kawas who is also the general overseer of World Harvest Ministry, said that they decided to organise the one-day national Thanksgiving for Nigeria, because before the general elections, there were various negative prophecies that Nigeria would not survive a Muslim-Muslim ticket, but the reverse is the case.

“You all know that there have been a lot of prophecies of doom right from the time that the election campaign began. All kinds of things were said that Nigeria would disintegrate and all manner of progress. But God Almighty kept us together, in peace, in unity, in harmony, and took us through the elections safely.

“Now we have a government that has been formed under the able leadership of our president and commander-in-chief, Bola Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima.

“By the grace of God, for we as church leaders, are duty bound by the Word of God to pray and support any government of the day. Today, we have a government in place and so, it is our duty to pray for the government.

“And we must encourage a peaceful atmosphere in the nation so that the government will be able to do the work that they have been elected to do because no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of chaos,” he said.

He stressed that they decided to come together and host the Assembly, which is a day of three-hour marathon prayer, praise, worship, and honour given to God with an intermittent prophetic declaration by the spiritual fathers in the nation.

He said they are trusting God that on that day, which is the first of December 2023 Friday morning, many Christian leaders and national church leaders will assemble at the National Christian Centre.

“We are expecting them to come in their numbers from all walks of life, from the religious community, from the political, from the business community, governmental and nongovernmental to assemble and lift our voices in prayer to God.

“One of the things that created tension in Nigeria during the last election era, was the fact that many of us Christians in Nigeria, cannot pretend that we were all scared of the idea of a Muslim Muslim ticket. It brought a lot of fear and shivers down our minds,” he said.
