Yobe State Security Council headed by Governor Mai Mala Buni has reviewed the security situation in the border communities affected by the recent attack by suspected Boko Haram militants in Gaidam local government area.

The special adviser to the governor on security matters, Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam Dahiru (rtd), stated this in Damaturu when he briefed journalists after the council’s meeting.

Dahiru said the recent security challenge in some villages in Gaidam council was as a result of infiltration of suspected Boko Haram insurgents into the state.

He said Yobe shares common borders with Borno State and an international boundary with Niger Republic.

Dahiru said the security agencies have deployed security men to the area and that they are studying the report on the infiltration to forestall future occurrence.

He added that, „I want to use this opportunity to inform you that, calm and normalcy have returned to the affected village.“

The governor’s aide urged the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements and persons in their communities.
