Widow of the late former governor of Oyo State, Dr. Florence Ajimobi, has stressed the need for enhancement of micro, small, and medium enterprises, SMEs, saying it remains the bedrock of the Nigerian economy.

Mrs. Ajimobi spoke as special guest of honour at the closing of a two-day Small and Medium Enterprises Fair 2023 organised by the University of Ibadan.

She commended the organisers of the fair, which she noted would bring the opportunities that abound in town to facilitate the building of the capabilities that exist among the students on campus.

She encouraged business owners to structure and conduct their transactions in more efficient ways that would leave open the various doors of opportunity to change the fortunes of their trades favourably.

The former first lady thanked the University of Ibadan for 75 years of grand contributions to the nation in encouraging collaboration, innovation, and growth among the SMEs.

She said she had always seen the University of Ibadan as one of the major platforms for the economic and human development of the nation.

The deputy vice chancellor Research Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose (SAN) expressed delight at the successful conclusion of the Fair.
