Wilder Seeks Face-To-Face Talks With Joshua Over Pending Bout

American heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder is looking forward to a parley with Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua in person to finally settle on terms for their much-anticipated bout

Deontay Wilder claimed that Anthony Joshua who won gold in the 2012 Olympics is scared to take him on in the ring.

Recall that the pair were unable to agree terms for an undisputed title showdown when they held all four of the divisions’ major belts between them.

For the previous few months, there have been rumors of Wilder and Joshua facing off in Saudi Arabia at the end of the year.

The event’s funding, according to Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, has been disrupted by some managerial changes in Saudi Arabia’s executives in charge of sports.

Wilder believes Joshua isn’t ready to face him even though it seems the investors from Saudi Arabia have grown cold feet over the purported bout.

“I just don’t know what’s up with Joshua bro,” Wilder told Blue Blood Sports TV. “Maybe I’m gonna have to go to England and sit down with him on some real man sh*t. I don’t want him to feel like I have anything against him, but I know he’s afraid of me.

“Joshua – I and you are the biggest fight in the world bro, what are you doing? I really wanna talk to that dude.”

The 38-year-old Wilder believes he’s ready to face Joshua, but he hasn’t competed since knocking out Robert Helenius in the first round in October 2022.

As for Anthony Joshua, the Nigerian-born British boxer has been very active in the ring after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk.

He returned to the ring in April and after twelve rounds, he defeated Jermaine Franklin by unanimous decision. When he made a comeback in August, he won by knockout over Robert Helenius.
