Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has approved the application for stay of execution on nullification of the appointment of Oba Gbandi Afolabi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomosoland.

Oba Olaoye’s appointment as the Soun was nullified by the court over a procedural flaw in his nomination.

Issuing the order yesterday, in suit no HOG/27/2022, presiding judge, Justice Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun, directed all the parties to maintain status quo ante pending the hearing and determination of the appeal already filed by the defense of Oba Olaoye and the Oyo state government.

It would be recalled Oba Olaoye who was installed on September 8, 2023 by the kingmakers got his appointment nullified on October 25 in a suit filed by Prince Kabir Olaoye on the ground of breaching the process of nomination.

Dissatisfied with the judgement, the monarch as well as the Oyo State government which approved the nomination filed independent appeals citing contradictions in the judgment in view of an earlier ruling on October 3 in which the judge Justice Adedokun ruled the process was right, proper and valid.
