Kebbi Governor Intervenes In Farmers/Herders’ Crisis

Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris has waded into the farmers and herders’ crisis in Suru and Koko Besse local government areas for peace to return to the areas.

He said dialogue was the only panacea for resolving lingering farmers/herders’ clashes in the state and the country.

 Idris, who rushed to areas following the crisis between the farmers and fulani herders which resulted in the loss of two people and eight others hospitalised, noted that his  visit was to streamline the issue and kickstart settlement process towards restoring peace and stability in the two local government areas.

 He donated N4 million to the two deceased people, N5 million to the remaining eight people who sustained injuries in Suru, while in Besse where two people were missing and one person was killed.

While describing the crisis as an unfortunate, the governor has immediately set up a reconciliatory committee headed by the state commissioner of police, director, Department of State Services (DSS), Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), District Heads, members State House of Assembly and other relevant stakeholders in the areas.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the crisis has resulted in killing of two people while eight others sustained various degrees of injuries.
