“Certainly there are things we need to look at, where have we done well, where do we need to improve, or what can we do differently to bring more impact”.

He gave an instance that there are critical questions to be asked such as what is happening with the cash crunch in Nigeria, why is there no cash in circulation in the economy, have we done our research to tell the government the reasons for this challenge?

“We have to improve and be more visible to the economy, what is happening to the insurance sector, can we have a take and come out with a strategy to help the sector,” he said.

According to him, if there was not enough money in circulation the economy would not grow, hence the government should ensure adequate flow of money into the economy.

Dala said a bad economy could kill a whole nation, hence the need for finance professionals to go into a sectoral research and build capacity so as to advise the government for things to be done right.

Speaking, 2nd deputy vice president, ICAN, Qeensley Seghosime who was ably represented by Joy Esu a member of ICAN governing Council said if things are done according to compliance to rules and laws you will see that the level of corruption will be greatly minimised and chartered accountants have been championing that.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the immediate past chairman, Chimezie Ogu appreciated the leadership of the Society for the honour done to them.

According to Ogu, it is an inspiration and encouragement to be awarded the honour as the past chairman of society, saying that the award came at the right time and would spur them to do more towards the growth and sustainability of the District.

The ICAN National Treasurer, Tobi Abiola said that it was good to recognise hard work, and urged the awardees to do more.
