Kaduna State government has unveiled its 2024 budget of N458.271 billion to the people of the state for their input before the final presentation to the state House of Assembly for passage.

The state commissioner for planning and budget commission, Mukhtar Ahmed, who presented the draft budget during a town hall meeting held in Kaduna said the proposed recurrent expenditure stood at N139.434 billion, while the capital expenditure was N318.836 billion.

Ahmed explained that in the draft budget, agriculture has N22.549 billion, business, innovation and technology were allocated N1.247billion, while housing and urban development got N7.944 billion
The commissioner said public works and infrastructure has N67.131 billion. Education was allocated N82.554 billion as Health was given N53.137 billion while social development had N21.827 billion.

“It is important to know that government budgets are public documents breaking down the revenue generated, and expenditure spent on the State’s development ranging from Security, Health, Education and other sectors.
Given that the first draft has been formulated, we see it necessary to engage citizens to participate and give their inputs which in turn, fosters partnership and builds trust between the State and its citizens.

As Citizens have an important part to play in the budgeting process and the State has always made it possible in numerous ways thus relating it to the realities of our world today. By this presentation, we look forward to your participation and a robust discussion,” Ahmed said.
