Apapa Traffic: LASTMA Impounds 78 Trucks On Ijora Bridge

In other to ensure seamless movement of traffic in and out of the Apapa Port, the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), on Sunday, impounded and towed away 78 illegally parked containerised trucks on Ijora Bridge.

In a press statement issued by the director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment, LASTMA, Taofiq Adebayo, the exercise was led by the general manager of LASTMA, Bakare-Oki Olalekan.

 

According to Adebayo, the enforcement operations, which lasted between 12am to 7am on Sunday, will be continuous due to the Authority’s zero tolerance for indiscriminate parking and impediment to free traffic flow in the axis.

The statement read, “LASTMA during an early Sunday morning enforcement operations led by the General Manager, Bakare Oki Olalekan, in conjunction with relevant security agencies to ensure smooth and seamless traffic for Lagosians during this festive seasons and beyond, impounded another 78 illegally parked containerised trucks on top High Bridge by Lilly Pond inward Apapa and Sifax axis of Ijora (Olopa).

 

“The enforcement operations will be continuous with zero tolerance to indiscriminate parking and impediments in the axis.”

 

He, therefore, called on motorists to take possession of the road and not hesitate to inform LASTMA of any broken down or abandoned trailer/truck via the Agency hotlines – 08100565860, 08129928490, 08129928515 & 08129928593.
