The attackers arrived at the village around 11 p.m. and began shooting sporadically. They targeted a mini shop owned by Modu Zarami, who was killed in the attack.

Villagers who were sleeping at the time were woken up by the sound of gunfire. Some said they saw the gunmen looting food from shops before fleeing the scene.

The victim, Modu Zarami, was 35 years old. He was the only person killed in the attack.

The attack has left the community of College Pumpo shaken. Ardo Dungus Bulama, the ward head, called on the state government to provide more security personnel to the village.

“We need more security to protect our lives and property from these attacks,” Bulama said. “We also urge people to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.”

Boko Haram has been waging an insurgency in northern Nigeria for more than a decade. The group has killed thousands of people and displaced millions more.
