In a condolence message he personally signed yesterday, Yari who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Water Resources and Sanitation, said that the passing of the governor was  a great loss not only to Aketi‘s immediate family but to the people and government of Ondo State, Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the legal profession and all those who knew him.

He hailed Akeredolu as „the activist governor and a bridge builder“ who demonstrated leadership excellence, pragmatism, professionalism and compassion in his various roles.

He also prayed for the repose of Akeredolu‘s soul and the strength of his family to carry on his legacy.

The senator similarly expressed sadness over the demise of the 4th assembly speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na‘Abba who died on Wednesday.

He described Na‘Abba as a courageous lawmaker who shouldered the national burden of designing, rebuilding and mainstreaming the federal legislature as a critical democratic institution for sustenance of Nigeria‘s nascent democracy.
