The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a new State Working Committee (SWC) of the party in Imo State.
The erstwhile members of state working committee led by I.U.K Nlem were asked to resign their positions or risk sack, after the party accused them of gross involvement in anti-party activities during the just concluded November 11, 2023 off-cycle governorship election in the state.
According to the South East vice chairman of the party, Chilos Godsent, the new Imo State working committee has: Chief Dr Amushie Emmanuel, state Chairman; Hon Amadi Chidi, state Deputy Chairman; Mr Okoro Charles, state Secretary; Mrs. Ijeoma Egocha, state Treasurer; and Hon Justice Ugochukwu, State Financial Secretary.
Others are Mr. Oparaugo Emmanuel, state Publicity Secretary; Deacon Jacob Onuigbo, state Organizing Secretary; Mrs. Loveth Emedo, state Auditor; Iroh Lazrus Iheanacho, state Legal Adviser; Lolo Ngozi Nwosu, state Women Leader; Comrade Edih Chidiebere, state Youth Leader,Chief Charles Nwosu ,State Vice Chairman Okigwe Zone, Chief Onukaogu Paschal, state Vice Chairman Owerri zone; and Nnamdi Aguguo, state Vice Chairman Orlu zone.
Further, Godsent mandated the new SWC to reposition the party in the state, and lead the party to a resounding victory in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, the new state Chairman of ADC in the State, Chief Amushie pledged his unalloyed commitment to work with his team to bring Electoral Victory for the party in subsequent elections.
He declared the commitment of ADC to use every available political and legal means to compel the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to conduct local government council elections in the state before the end of June 2024.
According to him, as the leading opposition party in Imo state, ADC will be in the front line in the struggle for participatory democracy and good governance in the state.
