The Lagos State University (LASU) has distanced itself from a sponsored post, circulating on the popular social media platform Facebook, inviting users to obtain a “legit LASU Certificate in six weeks.”

The university stressed that this information should be disregarded as it is impossible to acquire a “legitimate” certificate from LASU in six weeks. Any attempt to do so will not only be considered a criminal act but will also prove futile.

In an official statement released by the Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations at Lagos State University, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the university clarified, “The general public is hereby notified that this sponsored post has no direct or indirect affiliation with Lagos State University (LASU). Furthermore, the individual named Njika Johnson Uchechukwu, with the phone number 08034463893, is not a staff member of LASU.”

The statement reiterated that attempting to acquire a “legitimate” certificate from LASU in six weeks is unattainable and would be considered both criminal and ineffective.

Moreover, the university’s management has engaged intelligence and law enforcement agencies to identify and take action against those responsible for the misleading post, intending to damage the institution’s reputation.
