Police operatives in collaboration with a quasi-security outfit have arrested five suspected armed robbers terrorising residents of Shehu Wunti Housing Estate, Tirwun, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.
LEADERSHIP learnt that the gang, which specialised in breaking into houses, rented two apartments in the same estate from where they planned and executed their mission on innocent neighbours.
The spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who confirmed the arrest, said the gang leader moved to Bauchi from Kano.

“On January 23, 2024 at about 0300hrs, a team of detectives attached to ‘C’ Division Headquarters in collaboration with a quasi-security outfit on visibility policing patrol arrested the following suspects: Musbahu Umar, 23; Salim Hamisu, 30; Sadiq Nura, 22; Abubakar Aliyu, 22; Mohammed Mohammed 20.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect was from Kano State. He rented two (2) houses at Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters. He connived with other members of the gang and terrorised Bauchi communities, particularly Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters,” he said.
He said investigation is ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining gang members, after which the defendants will be profiled and charged to court for the established offences.
