The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider the leadership of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) in determining future national appointments, citing the agency’s improved administrative stability and attention to staff welfare.
The Public Relations Officer of the association, Comrade Obidah David, also urged the NIPC management to sustain efforts to improve the Commission’s operations and strengthen initiatives related to investment promotion and youth development.
According to him, the Commission had experienced greater institutional stability under its Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Barrister Aisha Rimi.
It noted the opportunities provided by the NIPC for Industrial Training (IT) students and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), saying that such placements expose young Nigerians to practical work experience and professional development within government institutions.
The association said the opportunities were relevant to efforts to prepare young people for employment and equip them with skills needed in the labour market.
However, it urged the Federal Government to take into account the developments at the Commission when considering future appointments and responsibilities.
“NANS respectfully calls on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take cognisance of the institutional progress and administrative stability recorded at the NIPC under Barrister Aisha Rimi’s stewardship and consider entrusting her with greater and higher national responsibilities,” the statement said.
The association argued that experience in institutional management, staff relations, and youth development should be considered when making decisions on public-sector appointments.
