Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has fingered some prominent leaders of Ilobu and Ifon Orolu in the renewed hostilities that reportedly claimed two lives.

Adeleke in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, threatened to deal with those behind the resurgence of violence in the communities.

Meanwhile, two people have been killed in the renewed hostilities that broke out on Monday while properties were also destroyed in adjoining villages over land dispute.

Though the state police command confirmed violent clashes in the communities but remained silent on whether there were casualties as at the time of filing this report.

The clash that reared its ugly head again following alleged attempt by farmers from the two communities to lay claim to landed properties located at Ologele and Aganna villages.

The leadership of the two warring communities were blaming one another over the renewed hostilities despite the peace pact earlier signed by them.

The disruption of the relative peace between the communities on Monday created tension in the two communities as residents and shop owners scampered to safety.

It would be recalled that communal clashes erupted in the communities last October resulting in many deaths and loss of properties such that Governor Ademola Adeleke had to declare curfew in the two local government areas.

When contacted, the spokesperson for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, said, “We have sent our squad to the local government areas. They were briefed before they left. We are working around the situation”.
