Minister of state for labour and employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, while responding to organised labour’s 14-day ultimatum to fully implement the agreement, assured Nigerians of the federal government’s continued commitment to address labour’s concerns and fulfill all agreements.
Onyejeocha who acknowledged the challenges confronting Nigerian workers following the removal of fuel subsidy, stressed government’s commitment to maintain open communication with organised labour.

She said the government had already commenced payment of the N35,000 wage to the federal workers and inaugurated the minimum wage committee to negotiate a new national minimum wage.
Onyejeocha also noted government’s intervention in matters concerning the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) resulting in significant progress towards fulfilling agreements with the Lagos State government and further stated that the government had approved various tax incentive measures for the private sector and the general public, and has also intervened in the leadership crisis in the NURTW.
