The kidnappers who had initially demanded a N50 million ransom before reducing it to N12 million, settled for N700,000 after a series of negotiations with the parents of the students.
The head of Information and Protocol of the university, Mrs Ashu Agbu, told our correspondent that the victims regained freedom at about 10pm on Thursday night.

Agbu admitted that ransom was paid to secure the release of the two students, adding that collaborative efforts of security operatives and the school management facilitated their release.
Some of the students who spoke with our correspondent urged the state and the federal governments to work cooperatively with the institution’s security team to avert future reoccurrence of the incident.
