First lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has said the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural Support Programme is committed to supporting women farmers nationwide to align with the broader national agenda to strengthen the agricultural sector in the country.

Senator Tinubu stated this in Jos the Plateau State capital during the flag-off of distribution of N500,000 to support 20 women farmers per state in the North Central Zone.
She said a draft of N10 million will be handed over to the first ladies of Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau who are also RHI state coordinators for onward disbursement to all beneficiaries in their respective states.

Mrs Tinubu said the beneficiaries in Benue State and the FCT would receive their respective drafts through their RHI coordinators, adding that the amounts are for farmers in the agrarian sector, animal husbandry, poultry and fish farming.

The first lady said the initiative would transform the lives of rural women and support women in agriculture and also provide financial assistance to disabled individuals in the community. She also committed to promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and economic empowerment for all members of the society.

Similarly, the wife of the state governor, Barr. Helen Mutfwang represented by the commissioner for higher education, Kacholom Gyang said it is a known fact that women play crucial role in agriculture, not only in Nigeria but around the world arguing that they are the pillar of agricultural sector, contributing meaningfully to food production, processing, and marketing.
