A political pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the South-South Network For Good Governance (SSNGG), has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of disobeying valid orders of the Courts as they affect former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

This is as the group called on President Bola Tinubu, to wade in and stop the anti-graft agency from the alleged harassment of prominent politicians who worked tirelessly to ensure Tinubu’s emergence as President in 2023 elections.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday, SSNGG national coordinator, Stephen Daegbara, said the harassment of prominent politicians by the EFCC was being orchestrated by political enemies of the APC and the Tinubu-led administration.

Daegbara said: “We are worried that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, a body that derives it’s powers from the law, same as the courts, will arrogantly act in a commando style, and blatantly disobey and ignore a valid law court decision restraining it from taken action against Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the pendency of the case in court.

“We are seriously taken aback that the unlawful conduct of the EFCC, to the point of allowing itself to be used as a tool for political witch-hunting by desperate political enemies of the APC and against those who laboured to establish the renewed hope administration.

“Very obvious, the EFCC is selective in it’s political prosecution, even as Nigerians are evidently aware that more than two former governors, who are now serving ministers in the government of President Tinubu have valid court documents shielding then from prosecution.

“It is worrisome to observe that the only APC chieftains who worked to bring President Tinubu into power are the only targets of political prosecution, thereby raising further questions as to whether all other ex-governors who finished in 2023 or before are now saints.”
