A heavy downpour has destroyed about 30 residential houses in Waptan, a community in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State, LEADERSHIP can report.

The rain which fell on the agrarian community over the weekend, ravaged the roofs of houses exposing inhabitants to living under blown-off roofs.

A resident of the area who pleaded for anonymity said, “Many people cannot afford to prefix their houses ahead of this year’s rainy season.”
He said the extent of devastation caused by the storm left everyone in the community almost a victim, adding that no one was spared.

He called on the Bauchi State government to come to their aid to enable them to repair their houses.
While confirming the incident, a legislative aide to the lawmaker representing Lere-Bula in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Saminu Abubakar said already an inventory of the extent of devastation caused by the storm has been taken for possible assistance.
