The pioneer Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Ward 10 in Abavo, Ika South local government area of Delta state, Elder Francis Amamosa, has been killed while a singer, Goodnews Emuemu, aka Gnewzy, was abducted in the state.
While the octogenarian and two other farmers were abducted on their farm along the corridors of the Railway line at Okpe quarters, Abavo, the music artiste, who is signed to Eric Many Records, was abducted on his way back from a show on Monday.
Gnewzy was abducted at Eklat Road in the Ughelli area of the state by some armed men who dressed in police uniform.
A close family source who confirmed the killing of the octogenarian alleged that the dastardly act was carried out by herdsmen who took over his farm and attempted to kidnap him along with two other farmers.
“He was said to have resisted the kidnappers and questioned their audacity to order him out of his farm following which the herdsmen immediately shot him several times. But when they discovered that the bullets failed to penetrate his body they resorted to the use of machete to inflict deadly cuts on him leading to his bleeding to death,” the source narrated.
He added that two other farmers within the vicinity were also abducted by the herders in the process.
“As I speak to you, the remains of late elder Francis Amamosa has been deposited at the mortuary while the matter has been reported at the Abavo Police Division,” he said.
Meanwhile, the singer’s manager, Obas9ice, who was also in the vehicle when they were accosted by the attackers, confirmed that the kidnappers have contacted him with a demand for $200,000 ransom to be paid within seven days.
“Hi, Dilly. You have seven days to pay $200,000 for your artist, Gnewzy, or we will send out his head. We will send you an email in five days on location for drop-off. Involve the police or mark the money, and he will be killed,” the message stated.
