The BUK authorities expressed appreciation to the company for the inauguration of the facility following a collaboration with the varsity to ease life on campus for students.

Answering questions from newsmen at the event, spokesperson of the organisation, Linda Aguacha told newsmen that the laundry facility was donated as a corporate social responsibility for students to wash their clothes and to alleviate their difficulties.

“This is part of our social responsibility because we want the students to focus on what is important – focus on their education and their personal growth – that is why we donated this so that they can wash their clothes for free. Laundry does not have to be a problem any more.

“We hope that they will enjoy it and use it very well for the betterment of their lives and hope that it will last very long.

“This is a self-service state of the art laundry with two sections. We have the section with the washing machines where you will go and put your clothes and it washes them for you, while you wait aside reviewing your book.

When the clothes are washed, you then take them to the dryer and it will dry them for you free of charge.

“We also have another section meant for those who are not familiar with the washing machine and prefer to wash with their hands. So, there are two sections here regardless of what your preference is when you do your laundry,” she explained.

Although she did not reveal the amount of money spent in the project, she stated that it is a nationwide project that ASPIRA is undertaking to ease life for students living on campuses across the country.

She added that the same facility has been donated in the University of Lagos (UniLag), University of Ibadan (UI) and now they are doing the same in BUK.

Earlier, the vice chancellor of the university, Prof Adamu Sagir appreciated the company for their cooperative efforts and thanked them for generously donating the laundry facility to the university.
