National youth leader of ADC, Chukwuka Odimbu, who stated this during an event organised to mark the Democracy Day, however urged Nigerian youths to be actively involved in ensuring that democracy thrives.

Odimbu said, “The present administration of president Ahmed Bola Tinubu owes the country a civic responsibility to protect our young democracy, as do successive governments.”
While noting that Nigeria has a growing democracy unlike other developed nations, he stressed the need for proper nurturing of democracy through its formation phase.

He added, “Lastly, we have to remain vigilant and proactive, democracy is fragile and can only be sustained through constant efforts and commitment. Challenge injustice, question authorities and demand transparency and accountability. Protecting our democratic values requires a collective commitment to ethical conduct and the rule of law.”

“In conclusion, as we celebrate democracy day, let us renew our commitment to the principles of democracy. Let us honor the sacrifice of those who fought for our freedoms by actively participating in our democratic processes. The youth are the heartbeat of our nation’s future and your involvement is crucial for a vibrant inclusive and enduring democracy,” he Odimbu.
