The customary chiefs in Lagos, in conjunction with Oworosoki traditional worshippers led by Chief Isiaka Oyemola Ogundare, have absolved Oba Babatunde Saliu of alleged assault by Akogun Adewale and his wife, Salawe.

In a press conference held yesterday at Iledi Nla Osugbo on Lagos Island, the monarchs stated that Oba Babatunde Saliu is a gentleman to the core and does not support violence in any form.
The Oluwo of Oworosoki Kingdom Chief Chief Rafiu Atanda, stated that, “The Customary Chiefs of Lagos stand behind the monarch and his reputation as a just and fair ruler.

“The allegations made against Oba Babatunde Saliu by Akogun Adewale and his wife, Salawe, claiming that the king’s alleged thugs beat his wife to stupor and that it was not the first time the Monarch had mobilised his thugs to assault people, is a lie, “ Atanda pointed out.

According to him, he was at the palace on that fateful day, adding that the king only asked them what type of ritual rites they performed without informing him.

“And the traditionalists called Salawe, and the king stopped them in front of his palace. Immediately, this woman arrived, and she started calling the king names. Oba Saliu just called the police to handle the matter, and he entered his palace. I was shocked to see news online that thugs working for Oloworo beat the woman to a stupor. All these are fabricated lies,” he said.

To this end, he said, “This is why we bring Akogun Adewale and wife Salawe matter to Customary Chiefs here in Lagos Island because the information gathered showed that Adewale was a member of Lagos Island Customary Chiefs.”
