Golf And Tour Group Visits DICON, Kaduna Museum, JMA Orphanage

As about 150 amateur golfers converged on Kaduna to participate in the golf and tour group 9th golf tournament which kicks off at the Kaduna golf club and the wuyep lakeside golf club Air Force Base today, members of the group have visited the Kaduna Museum , Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON)and the orphanage home at the Jamiya Matan Arewa (JMA) all in Kaduna.

Leading the group,  Air Vice Marshal Clement A. Aroriode (rtd) said the visits was part of the activities lined up for the 9th edition of the golf tournament

Recall that the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Wing Commander Ibrahim Sarki  (Rtd) at a press conference said, the tournament promises to be the best of its kind.

He said,  the Golf and tour group is made up of Retired military and security serving officers, acting and serving lawyers, retired and serving civil servants, business men and women among others.

The LOC Chairman further disclosed that during the golf tournament,  other activities will include visit to orphanage home where support will be given to the needy, DICON and the museum.

According to him, “the competition is  shared between two golf clubs, kaduna golf club and the wuyep lakeside golf club with grand finale and presentation of Trophies to be at the Kaduna golf club.

He also disclosed that the ceremonial tee off will take place at the Kaduna golf club on Saturday 22nd June, 2024 with dignitaries from military formations, top government functionaries in attendance.

Expected dignitaries that will grace the ceremonial tee off and presentation of Trophies will include, Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, the Chief of Defence Staff, GOC 1 division Nigerian Army headquarters, Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and several other personalities.

 

“Guest players from NDA, Zaria, wuyep, kaduna golf club are also going to participate in the tournament and also win prizes.

 

“ We have had tournaments in Abuja Calaba, illorin, iIbadan, Enugu and Uganda and now we are in Kaduna” adding that the choice of Kaduna is unique and it is meant to send a message that security situation in Kaduna has improved drastically”.

 

At the Museum, the group members were taken round by Ishaku Muhammad Bello a Museum educator and showed cultural artifacts.

 

A member of the group, Rear Admiral Dogara Gora Retired said, they learnt a lot from the museum. At the Jamiya Matan Arewa, the President Hajiya Rabi Saulawa who received the golf and tour members commended them for the visit and gave them historic details of the orphanage amd activities of the women northern group.

 

Although there was no physical presentation of anything, the group said, they would render necessary assistance to the orphanage with time.

At the DICON, the group were recieved by the director general Major General Aniedi Edet who expressed joy for the visit, while promising to sustain assistant to the group.
