The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of unity of purpose in all that they do, as a way to achieve success in life.
General Musa gave the advice after teeing off the 9th Golf and Tour Group tournament at the Kaduna Golf Club at the weekend, saying describing sports in general as a unifying factor particularly the game of golf.
Fielding questions from Journalists shortly after performed the ceremonial tee off, General Musa who is also a golfer and participating in the tournament expressed optimism to win.
“Everybody that competes wants to win but the joy of it all is that we are all united as Nigerians with same unity of purpose in what we do.
“Sports unite us especial golf,
if you look at the array of players from different professions and from different parts of the country, you will see that we are all united in playing golf. We need to unite to achieve success in whatever we do,” he stressed.
It would be recalled that no fewer than150 amateur golfers are participating in the golf and tour group 9th golf tournament which officially commenced at the Kaduna golf club and the wuyep lakeside golf club Air Force Base simultaneously on the the 21st June, 2024 with visit to the Kaduna Museum, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON)and the orphanage home at the Jamiya Matan Arewa (JMA) all in Kaduna.
The Golf and Tour group is being Led by Air Vice Marshal Clement A. Aroriode (Rtd) while the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is Wing Commander Ibrahim Sarki (Rtd).
The Golf and tour group is made up of Retired military and security serving officers, acting and serving lawyers, retired and serving civil servants, business men and women among others.
Other dignitaries who also took part in the ceremonial tee off include, Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) Major General Emmanuel Parker Undiandeye, the leader of the Golf and Tour group AVM Aririode (Rtd), Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani represented by the Commissioner for Sports Development Prof. Benjamin Kumai Gugong, Chief host of the tournament and former Group Managing Director (GMD)of the NNPC Engr. Andrew Yakubu, the LOC Chairman Wing Commander Sarki (Rtd) and the Kaduna golf club captain Ken Nwankwo.
