LG Autonomy: SAN Tasks FG On Enforcement Of Supreme Court Judgement

A senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Barr.Titus Asaholu has urged the federal government to ensure the enforcement of the Supreme Court’s judgement on local government autonomy.

He said the enforcement of the apex court’s ruling is important to making the local governments viable.
Asaholu, a former attorney general and commisssioner for Justice in Kwara State made the call during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin.

The legal giant said the court judgement should be implemented through the payment of the local government fundd directly to their accounts.

He said the enforcement of the Supreme Court’s court judgement will return life back to the local government areas across the country.

He added that any constitution amendment that would be carried out should be done inline with the Supreme Court’s Court judgement on local government autonomy.

Asaholu noted that based on the role order of the court, the state governors should comply and conduct elections into the local government where there are caretaker committees.
