The state commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya had disclosed the state government’s decision while briefing journalists on the update of the state of the roads across the entire 20 local government areas of the state.

Disclosing that the deplorable Sango-Ifo-Abeokuta expressway is one of the roads which Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration had contracted out since April this year, Akinsanya also explained that 21 out of them are being handled in conjunction with the federal government, while 19 others are solely financed by the state government.

Flanked by the special adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the Commissioner further disclosed that the expressway which traversed the state’s industrial hub from Sango – Ota – Atan – down to Owode Idiroko had also been awarded to contractors, while palliative works were currently being carried out along the axis principally to lessen the travel burden of commuters and motorists in the axis.

He emphasized that the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 40 roads cut across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

Akinsanya however, hinted that illegal structures, shanties, as well as other instructions sitting on the waterways, particularly in the Sango and Ota townships may be demolished so as to pave way for the free flow of water into the appropriate drainages to prevent flooding.
