Protest: Police Arrest 50 For Alleged Violence, Looting In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 50 persons for their alleged involvement in violence and breach of peace during the Thursday hunger protest in the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel who disclosed this to journalists, said some of the arrested persons also engaged in looting during the protest.

He said the arrestd were made across four local government areas of the state.

Nansel gave the names of the affected local government areas to include Lafia, Karu, Keffi and Nasarawa.

Giving the breakdown, the police spokesman said 25 persons were arrested in Lafia the state capital, 16 in Karu, six in Keffi, and three in Mararaba Udege in Nasarawa.

According to him, the affected persons are currently in police custody.

The police spokesman said normalcy has been restored in the affected areas, adding the entire state is now calm.

He warned that the Command will deal decisively with anyone who caused breach of peace in the state, while urging parents to rein in their wards.
