The director of Social Communication, at the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, Rev. Fr. Stephen Onyema has urged Nigerians to draw strength from within to overcome the current economic challenges in the country.

Despite the hardships in the country, Fr. Onyema remains optimistic, encouraging Nigerians to embrace resilience and self-reliance, citing his personal experiences of overcoming adversity.

Onyema who said this on Sunday in Kaduna during an interview with LEADERSHIP appealed to Nigerians to be patient and remain hopeful.

He said, “We have cried as a nation, but no one listens. Young Nigerians have protested but those in the authorities seem not to understand or have no answer to the plights of the people.

“Everyone is tired of wailing and lamenting, we look for tears but our tears are dried up. We now live like slaves in our country. However, Nigerians must not take the laws into their hands. We must encourage each other to pull through these challenging times”.

The cleric lamented that Nigeria is blessed with human and natural resources but lacks competent leaders to manage the resources.

He therefore advised Nigerians to make sure they get it right in 2027 by voting for competent leaders who will make Nigeria great again.

“We can change the narratives and sing a new song by the choices we make going forward. We must give a chance to competent and credible Nigerians, not minding their age, ethnicity, or religion. We must perceive them as fellow Nigerians and nothing more”.
