Nigeria’s Democracy Not Where It Should Be – IPAC

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) national chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle has said that despite the country having achieved 25 years of uninterrupted democracy our democracy is not where it should be.

Dantalle was speaking in Abuja, Friday, at the auditioning of IPAC movie “Unbroken -Two and Half Decades” held at Merit House Abuja. He however noted that while our democracy is not where it should be, but certainly not where it used to be and as such, with tremendous progress recorded so far, impact assessment is inevitable to embrace our new democratic realities as a nation moving forward.

Accordingly, IPAC is embarking on a topnotch production of a documentary movie titled” UNBROKEN TWO AND HALF DECADES ” to highlight and project Nigeria’s governance achievements from 1999, to not only reflect local content but to promote its brand image and products for local and international consumption.

He said apart from imbedding dialogues in the script to portray the quality of national polity and products, the national principles and products will be projected through other strategic vantage points in the movie which will improve public perception.

“Unbroken two and half decades” is one hundred percent pro Nigeria and has been endorsed and approved by key stakeholders as a national mirror to reflect her positive narratives, he said adding that this is unprecedented being the first of its kind in the history of Nigerian movies and therefore, considered an outright sell out upon release into the global market.

His speech reads in part, “We are strategically promoting innovative conversations around our democratic journey in the last two and half decades using outstanding brands as symbolic images of public relations for national reorientation and rebranding.

“The movie, Unbroken, will enjoy massive online, outdoor and conventional media publicity before, during and after the shooting and debut on national and international distribution platforms.

“The behind the scenes would be reviewed by CNN, NETFLIX, AMAZON, all national media networks, etc. It is expected to smash all-time records at the box office and as well trend massively online through notable entertainment super influencers.

By the auditioning which kick starts today IPAC has opened a vista of opportunities for creative Nigerians to showcase their talents while promoting the nation through this historic documentary.

“Over the years, the United States of America, through its public relations handlers have successfully designed an innovative strategy through “Film” for the promotion of democracy which is their invention and other anticipated government policies and programs. This singular strategy has cumulatively painted a picture of America as a perfect nation to the extent that the entire world mentality has been affected by it. Notable Hollywood movies like, 24, Air force 1, etc., were used to either promote their military might or test run the possibility and acceptability of a black President, even the dreaded Covid19 virus was clearly predicted via a few American movie like “outbreak” and “Contagion” 2011.

“The simple reason for tactically positioning Hollywood to be the mirror of the United States with massive funding through budgetary allocation is not far-fetched, it is to launder her image abroad and to promote the American dream. This is the best practice all over the world from United Kingdom, China, India, Australia, etc., and Nigeria cannot be an exception. The Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) considers it apt at this time of screen revolution, to take advantage of the conventional and non-conventional channels of mass communication to shape a befitting and positive narrative for the country.

“Unbroken, a thought-provoking documentary dramatic story of resilience, perseverance and destiny, told by IPAC, the umbrella body of political parties, highlighting true life events of Nigeria’s twenty-five years journey through the trouble waters of constitutional democracy. It is a situational narrative by a major stabilizer whose responsibility it is to genuinely deepen democracy in Nigeria. This is indeed a subtle appeal to the viewer’s conscience and sense of Patriotism.

Nigeria’s democracy has been threatened severely and often times at the verge of collapse, but remained formidable due to the collective efforts of citizens who sustained the mission and vision of our founding fathers. It is a dairy of dark and glorious moments that chronicled the ultimate reason for our continued existence as a nation.

“In about 120 minutes of captivating drama, the movie, “UNBROKEN TWO AND HALF DECADES” harmonizes the selfless agitations of Nigerians for good governance through a deliberate effort by the ruling class and the quest for a compatible federalism where the beauty of our unity in diversity radiates colors of equity, justice and unconditional peace.

“This is the story of Nigeria democracy between 1999 to date told by IPAC to commemorate the silver jubilee of uninterrupted civil rule and the gains thereof; and a strategic communication tool for building generational democratic bridges, patriotic consciousness and international acceptability of the Nigerian brand.”
