The National Universities Commission (NUC) has celebrated the last legacy of Professor Jibril Aminu, the pioneering Executive Secretary who laid the foundation for the regulation and growth of university education in Nigeria.
NUC acting executive secretary, Chris Maiyaki, in a press statement yesterday Aminu is a true academic luminary, Professor Aminu is a man whose journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
According to him, Aminu’s visionary leadership improved transparency and national revenue, notably expanding the petroleum products pipeline networks across Nigeria and the creation of additional depots across the country.
“Professor Aminu was the Nigerian Ambassador to the USA from 1999 to 2003 and was elected Senator for Adamawa Central constituency in May 2003 and re-elected in 2007.
“Over the years, Professor Aminu’s influence has been profound, inspiring countless others. His legacy is one of brilliance, service, and dedication to his nation.
“Today, we are thankful to the Almighty for sparing his life and granting him the strength and wisdom to continue making a difference. We pray that he enjoys many more years in sound health, surrounded by the love and admiration of those whose lives he has touched.
“Happy 85th birthday to a stalwart administrator, a mentor, and a true icon. Your legacy is etched in the hearts of all who know you, and we look forward to celebrating many more milestones with you. May the Almighty continue to bless and protect you,” Maiyaki said.
