It was reliably gathered that the deceased was the husband of one of the three abductees, who were all travelling in his car.

According to an eyewitness who does not want his name in print, the incident happened last Saturday at about 5:30 p.m. along Emure-Supare Road in Emure, close to the Oyimo River.

Supare Akoko, is a community in Ondo State which shares a border with Emure, an Ekiti community.

Late Oluwole and his abducted wife, according to the sources, were travelling back to Akure, the Ondo State capital, in their Toyota Camry car after attending a family event in Emure when their assailants ambushed them.

The bullets shot by the gunmen were said to have hit Oluwole while his wife and two other occupants of the car were whisked away to an unknown destination by the kidnappers.

The source said, “Taiwo Oluwole was killed, while his wife and two others were taken into captivity inside the bush. He was shot while the vehicle was in motion and died instantly. His corpse has been deposited at the Emure Ekiti General Hospital.”

One Akin, a resident of Emure, confirmed the incident and said that the family of the victim had yet to be contacted by the kidnappers.

“The late Taiwo was returning to Akure after attending a family event in the town. He was driving his Toyota Camry when they came under heavy gunfire from the bush, killing him instantly,” he said.

The Chairman of Emure local government,  Mr Tosin Adedayo, who also confirmed the incident, said that a joint security team had been deployed and launched a manhunt for the kidnappers since the time the case was reported.

When contacted on the phone, the Ekiti State Command Police Public Relations Officer,  Sunday Abutu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, did not respond to calls made to him at the time of filing this report.
