Following the recent recommendations of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, a leading All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart in Kano, has called on the ACF to support President Bola Tinubu in his effort to fight insecurity in the region.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Kano, Kwankwaso said he appreciates the recommendations of the ACF however, he stated that the Tinubu administration has since started making gains in the recent fight against terrorists.
It would be recalled that the ACF recommended that insecurity must end in the north, that the approach to the fight against terrorists needs unconventional methods, that moral crises in the region be addressed and that methods like the JTF used in the north be used in fighting insecurity.
Kwankwaso made reference to the achievements recently announced by the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, that 152 terrorists have been killed, 109 arrested and 91 persons freed from kidnappers, in Katsina and Kaduna states following the relocation of his team to Sokoto.
“The recent effort by the regime in which the Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle and the Chief of Defense Staff Christopher Musa have taken a big leap that is ripping a lot in the fight against insecurity.
“We from the north should rally around Mr President to ensure this move is successful because there is light at the end of the tunnel from what we are seeing,” he stated.
Kwankwaso further said that the efforts of the Tinubu’s fight against terrorism is seen in the fact that the Niger Republic authorities are considering taking measures at guarding their borders with Nigeria to stop the inflow of terrorists.
