Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway has earmarked N37 million to build, furnish and commission a primary health centre at Ijayapi community in Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
President of the club, Adaeze Ukwuoma who made this known yesterday during her investiture as the 10th president of the Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway, said the health centre is the star project for the club in 2024/2025 because it would make a great impact on lives of residents of the community.

Ukwuoma while delivering her acceptance speech, said they would continue to support local communities, while also making a meaningful impact globally, thereby calling on well-meaning Nigerians to join them on the journey of making impacts in local communities.

“I am deeply thankful for the trust you have placed in me, and I pledge to work tirelessly to uphold the ideals of our great organisation. As we gather here today, we are reminded of the power of service above self.

“We are part of a global community that has been a force for good, transforming lives and communities for over a century. My vision for our club is to build on the strong foundation laid by my predecessors, to innovate and to take bold action.

“Let us work together to make magic to provide water in communities where there is no water, provide for our lactating mothers and babies in our communities, provide basic health care and education for those who can not afford it – that is the magic of Rotary. Above all, to complete, furnish and commission Ijayapi Community Health Care Centre for the use of that community,” she said.

Earlier, the outgoing president, Rtn. chukwudi Onuorah, in his valedictory speech, said together, they had embarked on numerous service projects, both large and small, individual as a club and joint with other clubs/ partners that have had a profound impact on our community and beyond.
“From our efforts to eradicate polio to our support of clean water initiatives to our various educational, mental health awareness campaigns, disease control and prevention, community development, and vocational programs, these activities covered the Rotary areas of focus and have truly made a difference in the lives of countless individuals.
