Nigeria’s U19 Women Cricket Team, (Junior Yellow Greens) have booked a ticket to the 2025 ICC U19 World Cup in Malaysia after dominating Africa qualifying tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.

Nigeria’s girls defeated Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Malawi in the group games, setting up a pulsating encounter against host country Rwanda in the Semi Finals. Breeding through the fixture with brilliance and determination, Nigeria was faced once more with Test Playing Nation Zimbabwe in the final to decide the only qualification slot for the World Cup.

Not the batting performance we had expected, Nigeria finished with 77 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the first innings.

In the second innings, Zimbabwe breezed to 19 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 2.3 overs before the ‘Duke of Spain’ visited to draw the curtains on the tournament in the most fascinating, yet satisfying end for Nigeria and maybe not so for our sisters from Zimbabwe.

This means that Nigeria wins the tournament as winners of Group B, head to head victory against Zimbabwe in the group stage and going unbeaten throughout the tournament.
