Chairman of the Nigeria Film Festivals Association (NFFA), Uche Agbo, has called on Nigerian filmmakers to harness the influence of cinema to share authentic stories that reflect the nation’s unity and diversity.

In a statement marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, Agbo emphasised the film industry’s role in fostering understanding among Nigerians, preserving cultural heritage, and inspiring social change and national pride.

Agbo highlighted Nollywood’s significant contribution to showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry on the global stage. He praised the industry for telling stories of hope, struggle, and triumph that resonate with the Nigerian spirit.

“Nollywood has become the greatest ambassador of Nigeria, and we will continue to advocate for our unique narratives,” he stated. Agbo reiterated NFFA’s commitment to promoting Nigerian films internationally and empowering filmmakers to preserve the nation’s cultural legacy.

He encouraged filmmakers to use their platforms to tell stories that celebrate Nigeria’s diversity and inspire a hopeful future. “Let us embrace our heritage and celebrate our uniqueness,” he concluded.
