The rider whose name was not disclosed, lodged a complaint at the Denton Police Station on October 10, 2024 that the suspects, 30-year-old Mande Bello, Samsudeen Usman, 23 and one Gazali whose surname was not known, on October 9 at about 8pm asked him for a ride at Boson Roundabout in Oyingbo to drop them at the Third Mainland Bridge intersection.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin who disclosed this in an update on Sunday, said the rider initially declined the request but later considered the offer.

“On 10/10/24 at about 1500hrs, a complainant, who is a physically challenged and tricycle rider, reported at Denton Police Station that on the 9/10/24 at about 2000hrs, he gave a ride at Boson Roundabout Oyingbo, to the trio of Mande Bello ‘m’ aged 30, Samsudeen Usman ‘m’ aged 23 and Gazali surname unknown ‘m’ all physically challenged from General Pay, Aja.

“He further stated that they begged him to drop them at Third Mainland Bridge intersection which he initially declined,” Hundeyin said.

The police image maker reported the complainant that when he attempted to drop the passengers at the intersection, Bello brought out a cable to strangulate him.

He however wrestled the suspects and “forcefully turned back to Okobaba with two of the suspects – Bello and Usman, while Gazali escaped at the scene.
