A renowned Islamic cleric in Bauchi, Dr Usman Giade, has appealed to parents and guardians to strictly monitor activities of their children on social media to reduce rising level of moral decadence in the society.

Dr Giade argued that if left unchecked, social media platforms have the potency to fuel social decay.
Speaking while delivering a religious talk in Bauchi, Dr. Giade cited verses from the Holy Qur’an and Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), stressing the importance of parental guidance.

He expressed concern over the corrosive influence of social media on young minds, citing instances of immorality.

To him, social media has become a breeding ground for moral decay. He stresses that it is the duty of parents to monitor their children’s online activities, teach them Islamic values, and instill righteousness in them.
