If you’re someone who enjoys singing in the shower, you’re not alone! UK-Nigeria-based Afrosoul singer, Uchechi Emelonye, shares that she finds lyrical inspiration while showering.
In a popular TV show in Lagos, Emelonye revealed that her hit song “Underwater,” which won the BBC Music Introducing ‘Record of the Year 2022’ award, was inspired during her showers.
She stated, “I get a lot of inspiration when I am under the shower. Lyrics come flooding in my head when I go underwater. I don’t know who else it happens to, but I sing a lot under the shower.”
Currently, Emelonye is promoting her newly released EP, ‘Mixed Emotions’ featuring tracks like “My Time,” “First Time,” “Foolish,” “Over You,” “Dance,” and “Margins.” The EP is released under Emelux Records, a label dedicated to providing a supportive platform for African artists to explore and enhance their talents.
